Matt and Alex Harris are the husband-and-wife team behind North Coast Tile Company, a sales and consulting firm specializing in quality finishes. Matt, who began the tile business back in 2005, is highly respected by fellow tradespeople, builders, interior designers and architects who appreciate his professional, friendly service and keen eye for detail. This dedication to a quality finish has allowed Matt and his team to work on some of the most prestigious homes along the North Cornish Coast. Alex Harris says: “The client of this beachfront home with a splendid view of the ocean approached North Coast Tile Company on the recommendation of a contractor we had previously collaborated with on similar projects. The client’s brief for the surfaces was clear: the tiles needed above all to be durable and practical, as the house would be rented out for holidays during the summer months. Given the property’s proximity to the beach and its magnificent ocean views, the client also wanted the surfaces to harmonize with the natural surroundings.” The design team chose stone-effect porcelain flooring for the living area complete with kitchen island, opting for the delicate shades of green and blue from Coem’s Brit Stone collection in the colour Ocean. This durable, low-maintenance and timeless product helped create the perfect atmosphere for the entire home. A standout feature is the skylight positioned directly above the kitchen island with sink and snack top. The skylight casts enchanting reflections, as sunlight interacts with the subtle tones of the floor throughout the day. The seamless connection between indoors and outdoors is evident in every detail of the home. The spacious rooms are infused with the reassuring and earthy colours of the surrounding nature – beige sand, brown rocks and the metallic blue of the ocean. The presence of fireplaces in many of the rooms and the use of bright accents in some of the furnishings further enhance the warm, inviting atmosphere, making the home ideal for pleasant stays year-round.
