Moments in history under the Cyprus sun
With its immense cultural heritage and splendid beaches, crystal clear water, rolling hills and lush green valleys, Cyprus is the perfect place to immerse oneself in history. Standing at a crossroads between three continents, a meeting point between East and West, the island’s location has shaped its destiny, while the various civilisations that have occupied the island over the millennia have infused it with an extraordinary cultural and architectural complexity. Visiting Cyprus is like taking a journey through time, from the primitive Neolithic settlements to the majestic archaeological sites of the Hellenistic and Roman periods, astonishing Byzantine monasteries perched on rocky clifftops and fascinating mediaeval town centres dating back to the time of the Venetian Republic.
This wealth of history, archaeology and nature, in an island magically suspended between East and West, is reflected in the location of GrandResort, a five-star hotel set in splendid gardens dotted with tall palm trees overlooking the beach in the exclusive Amathus area.
Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Amathus dates back to 1100 BC and is one of the most important archaeological sites in Cyprus. Its ruins include the agora, underground houses, tombs dating back to the early Iron Age and the remains of a temple devoted to Aphrodite.
Cyprus is a truly unforgettable island where every day visitors can look forward to a different experience in the sun. But it is also important to find a relaxing place to stay and recharge one’s batteries before embarking on another memorable but tiring excursion. The GrandResort is the perfect choice, with its unique location, well-appointed rooms and its wellness and spa centre offering countless options and customised programmes for relaxation and wellbeing.
The five-star resort’s motto is “Where moments make the difference”, a philosophy that is reflected in the meticulous design of even the smallest detail.
The choice of Italian-made products made a real difference, and it is hardly a coincidence that the materials chosen for the floor and wall coverings were supplied by Ceramiche Caesar, whose extensive product range epitomises Italian style in terms of elegance, comfort and sobriety.
The porcelain tile collections Core, Life, Anima and Anima Select were chosen for the GrandResort rooms in view of their combination of aesthetics, technology and functionality.
Core, inspired by the appeal and texture of lava stone, was chosen in the colours Island, Tephra and Soot, which were also used for the Relief, Ars and Composizione N decorative pieces for the areas around the free-form outdoor swimming pool.
An essential choice for the pool area were the edges and special pieces from the Aquae Wellness Project line, the Caesar porcelain collection devoted to wet areas. The solutions in the range also ensure aesthetic and technical continuity in the transit areas and pool surround, while ensuring excellent results in terms of slip resistance, durability, health and hygiene. The infinity pool’s overflow channel is constructed using the Shape trim piece which integrates seamlessly with the surrounding decking.
The Anima and Anima Select series, inspired by the majestic and timeless elegance of the finest marble surfaces, were chosen in the golden Marfil (Anima) colour and in the intense black of Nero Atlante (Anima Select) for the lobby lounge area and in the suites, where the large 160×320 cm size reproduces the joint-free aesthetics of marble.
Nature likewise enjoys pride of place in the Life series, chosen here in the colour Oak and a 30×120 cm strip size. Life combines design and aesthetic harmony to imbue spaces with all the warmth and wellbeing of wood. Based on painstaking research into the typical characteristics of this material and its processing techniques, the ceramic surfaces combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovation.
