An 80-year history of success | by the Editorial team
Eighty years have passed since twin brothers Guido and Pietro Pettenon founded FILA, an acronym for Fabbrica Italiana di Lucidi e Affini (Italian factory of polishes and similar products), created for the production and commercialization of waxes and residential cleaners in San Martino di Lupari (Padua, Italy).
Through the years, as major and minor changes have occurred at an increasingly faster pace, transforming our society, the economy and international relations, FILA has also evolved into a global leader in its sector.
The breakthrough took place in the 1970s, guided by the intuition of the current President, Beniamino Pettenon. With the support of his sister Adriana and a pioneering spirit made of a clear vision with big ideas, he maintained the conviction of creating the best products in the market, staying true to the values of his past while embracing those of contemporary times. That’s how FILA began the production of professional surface protection products, catering to the real needs of terracotta manufacturers.
The company, with a structure that is family-owned yet managerial, is an international group that serves as a source of answers and certainty to its customers, providing solutions to problems and foreseeing the needs and requests of the market.
This year FILA commemorates 80 years since its foundation, a key moment in which to celebrate the objectives reached through the years. The company has additionally been admitted to the Registry of Historical Brands of Italian National Interest, bearing witness to the company’s participation in national entrepreneurship and the Made in Italy label.
FILA’s history is a long, evolutionary trajectory of products that have accompanied and still currently accompany the advancement of culture and how to inhabit spaces for a healthier lifestyle in step with the times, creating hygienic and protected surfaces around the world. FILA’s prestigious interventions include renowned locations such as the Palazzo della Ragione in Padua, the Canovian Temple in Possagno or projects abroad including the Presidential palace in the United Arab Emirates, the Louvre or the International Airports in Bahrain and Qatar.
Through its new and sophisticated Innovation Centre, where the R&D and Technical Departments collaborate daily with the most important universities and research centres in the world, FILA today continues to develop innovative products in terms of performance, materials, sustainability and reduced environmental impact.
Respect for the environment and the company’s commitment to green topics are some of the intrinsic values that involve all company divisions. In addition, environmental certifications validate the FILA Group’s attention to a person’s wellness, regardless of where they may be.
Innovative and sustainable products, cleaners with up to 98% biodegradable ingredients, and water-based sealers are part of the research journey centred around the lifecycle of surfaces, including cleaning, maintenance and protection from their creation.
From the 1940s to the present, an all-Italian story!
