Located in the town of Le Touquet at the heart of the Côte d’Opale, Domaine de la Petite Forêt is a hotel complex designed by Roque Intérieurs that serves as a perfect base for relaxing and exploring the 120 km of dunes, opaline sandy beaches (from which the coastline takes its name) and cliffs overlooking the English Channel. The best-known and most popular towns along this stretch of coast are Boulogne-sur-Mer, Calais and Le Touquet, often referred to as the “pearl” of the Côte and a place that once inspired writers like Victor Hugo and painters such as Camille Corot.
The French group Accor entrusted the interior design project to Roque Intérieurs, an agency founded in Paris in 2011 by architect Fabien Roque. Specialising in interior design, the agency has rapidly established itself as a key partner for private clients and major hotel chains seeking luxury, quality and meticulous attention to detail.
Inaugurated in September 2023, the modern hotel complex stands out for its rustic architecture with sloping tiled roofs, turrets, attics, facades with framed windows, wooden balconies and exposed brick cladding. Inside, the hotel offers all the amenities expected of an international-level establishment.
The Domaine de la Petite Forêt consists of three hotels, each with a distinct identity, brought to life by Roque’s extensive expertise. The three hotels – Tribe, Mercure and Ibis Style – offer a total of 170 rooms spread across three four-storey buildings. In turn, these buildings face onto an internal courtyard with communal open-air areas and a vegetable garden surrounded by the forest that extends behind Le Touquet. The project’s guiding concept draws inspiration from the uniqueness of the location, subtly translating its natural beauty into a timeless design. Tribe, a global brand targeting the new generation of travellers, offers 59 rooms centred around art and comfort, featuring urban style interiors. Mercure’s 60 rooms adopt a more classic approach, reflecting the local character of Le Touquet through colours and materials that reinforce the hotel’s connection to the region. The 51 playful rooms of Ibis Style embrace a seaside theme with informal décor and vibrant colours. The three hotels share several amenities, including a spa with a swimming pool, whirlpool bath, solarium, reception area and restaurant. The complex also caters to the needs of modern travellers with a coworking space equipped with workstations, meeting rooms and serviced areas for guests, reflecting the fluid and flexible nature of contemporary workspaces.
Italian ceramic tiles from Marca Corona were chosen to recreate the distinctive atmospheres of northern France inside the modern, cosy and functional interiors of the Domaine de la Petite Forêt. The Overclay collection, inspired by desert hues, evokes the region’s opaline sands and covers the floors of the spa and swimming pool. In the Tribe hotel, the luxurious marbles of the Foyer collection – chosen in the Joy version – add a touch of character to the bright bathrooms of the rooms and suites. The Ibis Style rooms feature the three-dimensional Art pattern from the Victoria collection, inspired by Victorian London, complemented by the Phase and 4D collections on both floors and walls.
