Did you know that the Italian ceramic tile industry minimises its water consumption, thereby preserving reservoirs and groundwater?
The latest Integrated Environmental Report for the sector revealed an average water recycle rate of 107%.
This means that the surveyed companies recycle not only all of their own wastewater but also a certain quantity from other industries, which is used to meet a large portion of their water requirements.
The recycle rates found by the Integrated Environmental Report are well above the 97% threshold indicated as the best available techniques (BAT) for the industry and in some cases are as high as 360%.
In addition, no factory was found to have values below the 50% Ecolabel threshold.
This attention to the environment results in savings of 3 million litres of water each year.
