An eco-friendly hotel aimed at business clients
Building Hotel in Carinaro, an Italian municipality in the province of Caserta with a population of around 7,000 people, is hardly a typical tourist hotel. Instead it is a modern 4-star establishment located in Carinaro’s ASI industrial zone that caters primarily to business clients.
“The hotel provides a service that was previously lacking in the area,” says architect Raffaele Marino, founder and managing director of the Quadrifoglio Group (owner of the hotel), who led the project together with his colleague Gianfranco Sagliocco. “Building Hotel, located on the renovated site of a disused industrial building, is the first hospitality facility to open in the Caserta industrial area and is primarily aimed at industrial and business clients,” the architect continues. “However, because of its convenient location close to Naples city centre, the Royal Palace of Caserta and Pompeii, we also have lots of tourists amongst our guests, especially at weekends.”
The hotel, which opened in 2020, is a modern structure with 55 guest rooms and a variety of hospitality and wellness spaces, including a 120-seat restaurant, a large cafeteria, a gym and an 80-square-metre meeting room for business events, courses and training meetings. “Building Hotel is also an eco-friendly, waste-free establishment with a strong commitment to the environment,” Raffaele Marino continues. “It is energy self-sufficient thanks to a 70 kW photovoltaic system on the roof terrace, a solar thermal system for hot water and external thermal insulation. It also has an electric car charging station.” The same criteria of sustainability, performance and aesthetics were applied to the selection of suppliers and materials, which included designer furnishings by Maronese Acf, wall coverings by Inkiostro Bianco and several collections of Italian-made porcelain tiles from Ceramiche Caesar. The architects chose the wood-inspired Meet line in the colour Allure Hazel and 20×120 cm size for the exteriors, as well as the Built line in the colour Yard with a pale concrete effect and in a 160×320 cm size for the façades. The Built line was also used for the interior staircase because it complements the surfaces chosen for the reception, restaurant and meeting room (Join series, Manor colour). Finally, for the bathrooms, the elegant marble-effect Anima collection was chosen in two versions, both in a customised 75×150 cm size.
This hotel could be the first of many for the Quadrifoglio Group. “We have created a project, an idea,” Raffaele Marino concludes, “and now our goal is to replicate it.”
