Positano, a town of extraordinary beauty on the Amalfi Coast, is renowned for its dramatic cliffs and breathtaking views. It boasts many unique vantage points, including the one offered by Casa L’Acquolella, a holiday home located in the upper part of the town. Consisting of two mini apartments of around 50 square metres each with terraces, Casa L’Acquolella was recently renovated by Waudesignstudio, a local design firm specialising in communication, graphics and interiors.

“For Casa L’Acquolella, we chose a blend of Mediterranean and rustic styles,” explains interior designer Giulia Palumbo of Waudesignstudio. “Both styles reflect the property’s location, surrounded by greenery yet offering breathtaking views of the town. To achieve this, we opted for stone, wood and ceramic as the main materials, while selecting yellow for one mini apartment and green for the other.” The result is a holiday home with “fresh, clean and airy rooms”, adds Palumbo, emphasising the project’s key strengths.

In the restyling, special attention was given to the bathroom, particularly in the yellow-themed apartment which features tiles from the Paintboard collection from Tonalite, a glazed porcelain stoneware available in a 10×40 cm size and 14 shades. “We chose this porcelain stoneware to create a bright and modern environment while evoking the typical colours of the Amalfi Coast,” the designer explains. “This led to the idea of creating striking contrasts through the use of two colours. For the shower, I selected the colour yellow and installed the Paintboard tiles in a herringbone pattern, creating a contrast with the rest of the bathroom where I used the same format but in white, with yellow joints that echo the shower.” The design offers a clear and visually striking reference to the Amalfi Coast and its famous lemons.
