NIDO by SIMAS receives an Honourable Mention at the 28th ADI Compasso d’Oro

NIDO by SIMAS is one of 39 products to have been granted an Honourable Mention by the international jury of the 28th ADI Compasso d’Oro Award.

The Award Ceremony was held on 20 June at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, which is also hosting an exhibition of the selected products. One of these is the NIDO ceramic urinal with a beautiful glossy yellow Narcissus finish designed by Simone Anzellini of Simas Design Team. The exhibition will remain open to the public until 15 September 2024.

Products that receive the Compasso d’Oro Award or an Honourable Mention automatically enter the ADI Compasso d’Oro Collection, designated by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities on 22 April 2004 as being of “exceptional artistic and historical interest”.

NIDO is a ceramic urinal that combines elegance with functionality and hygiene. Its compact size (30x30xH81 cm) makes it an ideal choice for both public spaces and home bathrooms, particularly in households with children or elderly people. It is designed for ease of cleaning and uses just two litres of water per flush. It stands out for its original and versatile design and for its relationship between material, shape and colour, while the fact that it is used in a standing position means that the area underneath can be left free. NIDO is available in the matt finishes Bianco Matt, Tela Matt, Cemento Matt, Nero Matt, Antracite Matt, Moka Matt and Sabbia Matt, and in the glossy finishes Caramello (tending to powder pink), Capri (a deep blue tone between cyan and dark blue), Menta (fresh intense green), Narciso (vibrant yellow), Rubino (deep dark red), Grafite (bright grey) and Bianco and Nero Lucido, in combination with the colours of the latest SIMAS collections.

“While the creative concept is closely bound up with rationality, its employs geometric figures – in this case the triangle – for aesthetic experimentation in a play of subtraction and addition, making NIDO a unique design object with outstanding functionality. The meticulous research project has aimed to create an unusual and fascinating exterior silhouette, an elliptical cylinder that projects from the wall and extends diagonally upwards. The internal bowl, also elliptical in shape, has the nest-like look of a comfortable and safe niche. The geometric figure of the ellipse thus becomes an integral part of the harmonious overall design, to which nothing else can be added,” explains Simone Anzellini design.
