Mauro Vandini named new President of Mohawk Industries’ Global Ceramic Segment
Mohawk Industries, the world’s leading flooring manufacturer, announced the promotion of Mauro Vandini to President of the Company’s Global Ceramic Segment, effective as of 15 September 2024. Vandini will also maintain his present role as President of Mohawk’s European Ceramic business.
Mohawk Industries, headquartered in Calhoun, Georgia and listed on the NYSE, posted consolidated revenue of over $11 billion in 2023. With sales in 170 nations and production facilities in 19 countries, Mohawk is a world leader in the ceramic, carpet, laminate and vinyl flooring categories and has globally recognised brands. In 2023, the company’s Global Ceramic segment posted consolidated sales of $4.3 billion, representing 39% of Mohawk’s total sales.
Mauro Vandini, who has an engineering degree from Bologna University, served as CEO of Marazzi Group from 2006 to 2009. Prior to this, he was the Technical Director and later the General Director of Marazzi’s International Operations, covering France, Spain and the USA, a role that provided him with unique experience in the ceramic industry.
Since Mohawk Industries acquired Marazzi Group in 2013, Mauro Vandini has returned to lead both Marazzi Group and Mohawk’s European ceramic business. Vandini has been instrumental in expanding Mohawk’s ceramic segment, spearheading an investment plan across Italy and Europe focused on enhancing products and processes. His leadership has facilitated the development of exclusive new technologies, the introduction of new product categories and the expansion of new sales channels. This plan led to the technological upgrade of all factories, the development of successful new product segments such as large slabs and small tile sizes, the opening of single-brand showrooms in major design capitals, and the acquisition and growth of complementary businesses in Italy, Bulgaria and Poland. At the same time, he has put together a talented leadership team that has supported him over the years.
“I have worked with Mauro since 2013, following the Marazzi acquisition, and I respect his deep knowledge of ceramic manufacturing, sales and marketing and his ability to drive improvements in all areas of the business,” said Jeff Lorberbaum, Mohawk’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Since we acquired Dal-Tile in 2002, Mohawk has become the world’s largest producer of ceramic tile. Mauro has built strong partnerships with our regional ceramic business leaders and will bring outstanding design, quality and value to our customers.”
“I am honoured to lead Mohawk’s Global Ceramic segment and appreciate the trust placed in me by Jeff Lorberbaum and of Chris Wellborn, Chairman and Chief Operating Officer di Mohawk,” said Vandini. “This promotion is recognition of the good work that my team and I have carried out in Europe in recent years. Marazzi Group has grown enormously in terms of technology, organisation and product development, and I am delighted to remain at the helm as CEO. The appointment of Leonardo Tavani as General Director of Marazzi Group, where he has served as VP of Marketing and Distribution since 1998, will ensure continuity and further advances in product innovation and brand positioning, building on the excellent progress made in these areas in recent years.”
