Litokol adopts solar energy for its site in Rubiera
With an investment of €450,000, Litokol has installed a 500 kW photovoltaic system on a section of the factory roof at its Rubiera (RE) production site. The system became operational last July when it was connected to the electrical power grid.
The system consists of 1,250 photovoltaic panels and demonstrates the company’s firm commitment to environmental sustainability and self-production of renewable energy. It will produce around 600,000 kWh per year exclusively from sunlight. The solar plant will provide much of the electricity the company needs to power its production activities, thereby avoiding the emission of around 580 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year. It would take about 30,000 trees a year to absorb this quantity of CO2.
“Litokol has been focusing on sustainable development for several years through a research project called Zherorisk which involves developing an innovative generation of environmentally friendly, zero-risk building products,” says Fabio Plazzi, managing director of Litokol. “We are maintaining these efforts by investing in photovoltaics with the aim of cutting energy costs and reducing the environmental impact of our production processes.”
