Laminam strengthens its position in the Spanish market

Laminam has taken a further step forward in its growth and internationalisation strategy with the acquisition of a controlling stake in Iberstone – a leading distributor of Laminam large-format porcelain and natural stone slabs for the kitchen and furniture sectors – from the Zapatero family.

In continuity with the previous organisational structure, Iberstone’s nine logistics platforms, along with its personnel and commercial assets, have been integrated into the newly formed company IBERSTONE LAM. Laminam holds the majority share in the new entity, while the Zapatero family retains a significant stake.

The new structure ensures commercial continuity, with José Luis Zapatero and his son Rubén Zapatero staying on as company directors.

The company’s distribution network and nine existing logistics centres located in Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, Majorca, Zaragoza, Valladolid, the Basque Country, Asturias and Gran Canaria ensure comprehensive market coverage and guarantee rapid and reliable delivery of slabs to over a thousand marble professionals.

The combined expertise of the Zapatero family and Laminam’s investment capabilities will drive the development of market potential and help to achieve ambitious new goals.

The Laminam brand, renowned for its aesthetic excellence, product reliability, technological innovation and sustainable production processes, has enabled the Fiorano-based company to capture increasing market share over the years.

Successful collaboration with the Zapatero family has enabled Laminam to firmly establish itself in this strategically important market

This newly concluded agreement reaffirms Laminam’s commitment to international growth, with the new company joining Laminam’s network of 12 foreign subsidiaries operating in key global markets.

“The acquisition of Iberstone represents the natural evolution of a fruitful professional collaboration and a friendship founded on mutual trust and respect, which has driven the growth and success of both companies,” said Alberto Selmi, CEO of Laminam. “This operation not only strengthens our presence in a strategic market but also allows us to combine our expertise with a team that shares our values and vision.”

JL Zapatero commented: “For the Zapatero family, this operation represents an important step forward built on the trust and strong friendship we share with the management team. Becoming part of a global brand like Laminam will enable us to make a positive impact on the Spanish market and assures us a bright future in our sector thanks to the high quality of our products combined with the expertise we have developed over the years.”
