Agreement signed for acquisition of Emilceramica
In full agreement with its parent company Mohawk Industries, world leader in the flooring sector, on 20 January this year Marazzi signed an agreement in Sassuolo for the acquisition of 100% of the capital of Emilceramica, a historic ceramic company based in Fiorano Modenese. The operation will be finalised once approval is granted by the Antitrust Authorities.
Emilceramica is one of the largest companies in the Sassuolo ceramic cluster. Since being founded in 1961 it has grown steadily thanks to major investments and now operates through the brand names Emilceramica, Provenza, Viva and Ergon, especially at an international level. With a presence in more than 5,500 stores in over 70 countries worldwide, Emilceramica has a particularly strong presence in the North American market with 4 logistic centres and dedicated staff. The company now has around 500 employees and two production facilities in Italy. Following a reorganisation plan and investments in innovation made in recent years, it has now positioned itself in the high end of the market. It reported a turnover of more than 150 million euros in 2015, over 90% of which was generated abroad.
Marazzi and Emilceramica share similar business values, including the utmost attention to product quality, sensitivity to taste and design, a focus on innovation, efficiency and environmental sustainability of production systems, and attention to professional growth and safety of employees, as well as a positive relationship
with the area and community within which they operate.
“We are very pleased with the agreement that has been reached,” commented Marazzi’s CEO Mauro Vandini. “Three years ago we embarked on a process of growth and large-scale investment in the ceramic cluster alongside our parent company Mohawk, an operation that we believe will enable our group to strengthen its leadership position and capacity for innovation in the ceramic sector.”
“Becoming part of a larger and highly internationalised group is certainly the best way of guaranteeing our company’s future growth,” added Emilceramica’s CEO Sergio Sassi. “Marazzi sees Emilceramica as a valuable business that fits in perfectly with its own industrial and commercial strategies. Our team is ready and
proud to become part of what is now unquestionably the number one group in the world and to continue the growth strategy we have successfully pursued in recent years.”
