Diamond by Atlas Concorde in ADI Design Index 2024
Diamond, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects for Atlas Concorde, has been selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory for publication in the ADI Design Index 2024, the annual review that showcases the very best of Italian design.
Diamond, the result of a visionary collaboration between Atlas Concorde and Zaha Hadid Architects, is a groundbreaking decorative proposal that embodies a multifaceted fusion of styles and values.
This concept redefines traditional mosaic, transforming repetitive patterns into a fluid, evolving design. The geometry undergoes a captivating metamorphosis, with shapes and colours shifting dynamically to create an organic, fluid decoration. Composed of six vertically arranged modules, the mosaic forms a gradient of shapes and shades, offering endless scope for customisation and for extension over larger surfaces. Paolo Zilli, associate director of Zaha Hadid Architects, explained his inspiration as follows: “Like an inclusion in a diamond, the insertion of a foreign body into a crystalline structure injects unexpected dynamism into the strict repetition of geometric patterns.”
Every year the Permanent Design Observatory of the ADI – Industrial Design Association chooses the best Italian design to have been put into production. Diamond designed by ZHA for Atlas Concorde will now compete for the ADI Compasso d’Oro award 2026.
Diamond by Zaha Hadid Architects will be on display in the following exhibitions in Milan and Rome:
