Tiling Town to focus on large slabs at Cersaie 2019 | by Simone Ricci

During the five days of Cersaie 2019, the Italian and international tiling world will converge on Tiling Town, located in Hall 31A close to the Piazza Costituzione entrance to the Bologna Exhibition Centre.

On each of the five days of Cersaie, visitors to the 8th edition of Tiling Town will have the chance to attend tile laying demonstrations given by master tile layers, with a special focus on the installation of large-size slabs and panels.

There will also be a packed programme of credit-earning technical seminars for architects and designers held in a dedicated permanent space and consisting of two hours of classroom lessons and two hours of practical tile-laying workshops.

Another equally interesting initiative is the Tiling Town Matinées (10:00 am), tile-laying events organised by the Assoposa technical partners (Fila, Schlüter-Systems and Raimondi) and open to visitors.

A large space in Tiling Town will also be set aside for Assoposa (Italian national ceramic tile layers’ association), which will meet with installation professionals each afternoon to discuss the activities carried out during the association’s five-year lifetime and its future objectives in terms of education and professional training.

The goals of Assoposa include training professionals as TILE LAYERS, MASTER TILE LAYERS and SLAB LAYERS to distinguish them from generic tile installers; training tomorrow’s tile layers through three-year professional training courses held at building schools; and investing in vocational apprenticeships as part of dual theory/work-based schemes at dedicated “tile laying schools” responsible for the professional training of young apprentices.
