(September 2024) | Hosted in a more than 400 square metre area in Hall 32 at Cersaie, the 12th Tiling Town will stage ceramic tile installation showcases led by Assoposa’s master tile layers.
The concept behind this year’s event is the relationship between humans and technology and the way they can collaborate to generate value and create a more sustainable, safe and inclusive working environment. Tiling Town will focus in particular on the evolving role of tile layers while placing the safety and well-being of industry professionals at the centre of the production and installation process.

The central part of the area will be divided into three sections. The first will demonstrate how experimental exoskeletons can be used to reduce the physical fatigue experienced by tile installers, to help them regain mobility after accidents, and to improve their working conditions and the quality of their work. The second area will feature high-precision cutting machines which combine compact dimensions with ease of use, quiet operation and excellent manoeuvrability to facilitate the tile layer’s work. Finally, digital projectors will be used to demonstrate how products can be adapted to available spaces, to enhance the purchasing experience and facilitate the choice of materials and installation layouts at the point of sale.

A large space in Tiling Town will be occupied by the Italian ceramic tile layers and retailers’ association Assoposa, which will interact continuously with professionals and promote Tile Layer Certification in accordance with Standard UNI 11493-2. A special area will also be devoted to the Assoposa Academy training courses and will feature an exhibition of tiled spaces and furnishings created using ceramic products of all sizes. The conference area will host technical seminars on large ceramic slab installation aimed at architects and designers. The seminars will earn professional training credits for participating architects, engineers and surveyors.

An information desk run by Formedil (Italian national training and safety body) will allow visitors to keep up to date with the latest educational offerings from Italian building schools, including those aimed at ceramic tile layers organised as part of an agreement between Formedil, Assoposa and Confindustria Ceramica.

The radio station Casa Radio (www.casaradio.it) specialising in the world of living and interior design will be present at Tiling Town with a dedicated booth and will feature a packed programme of live interviews with different guests covering a variety of topics on each of the five days of the show. The interviews, designed to present the companies’ individual histories and innovations, will be broadcast live and subsequently made available in the form of a podcast on a dedicated Cersaie 2024 channel. The initiative is an important opportunity for companies to introduce themselves and tell their stories while ensuring high-quality communication.

This year, three conferences devoted to specific topics in the world of construction will be held on different days, all at 12:00 pm:

– “Towards an Integrated Future: Synergies between ceramic production and building materials distribution” will be held on Tuesday 24 September with the participation of Augusto Ciarrocchi (Chairman of Confindustria Ceramica), Luca Berardo (Chairman of Assoposa) and Gianluca Bellini (Gruppo Made);

– “Beyond 2024: Projections and innovations in the real estate market with the Green Homes directive” with speakers including Giorgio Spaziani Testa (Chairman of Confedilizia), Angelo Deiana (Chairman of Confassociazioni) and Gian Battista Baccarini (Chairman of FIAIP) will be held on Wednesday 25 September;

– A conference entitled “Building the future: Integration and innovation in the real estate and labour markets. New housing models and social inclusion in the near future” will be held on Thursday 26 September in the company of Fabio Millevoi (General Manager of ANCE FVG and author of the book “Breve storia sul futuro delle case” [“Short history of the future of homes”]), Alessandro Scandurra (Architect and author of the book “Casa Rebus”), Cesare Damiano (Chairman of the Work & Welfare Committee and former Minister of Employment).

Finally, the outdoor area between Hall 32 and Hall 37 will host an initiative entitled “Bathroom Installation at Cersaie”, a more than 90 square metre structure where four installation teams from different countries (Italy, Switzerland, Denmark and Brazil) will compete in the installation of ceramic surfaces for different kinds of bathrooms. The initiative, which follows the one held in 2023 entitled “Young Installers at Cersaie”, is organised by Cersaie, Confindustria Ceramica, EUF (European Union of National Tile Associations) and the individual tile layers’ associations from the participating countries.
