The Italian ceramic tile industry is aligned with 9 of the sustainable development goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.
Environmental and social sustainability has been at the heart of the Italian tile industry’s corporate policies for more than 40 years.
The industry has implemented 55 projects that contribute to achieving 9 of the 17 SDGs.
Ceramic tile manufacturers have adopted preventive measures to ensure the good health and well-being of employees, promoted training projects and corporate welfare initiatives and organised competitions to reward the sustainability of ceramic design projects.
Many factories have long been equipped with cogeneration systems to reduce energy consumption; all factories have treatment systems to recycle waste water.
Production cycles are monitored and optimised with the aim of reducing emissions of CO2, volatile organic compounds and pollutants.
In the coming years, the Italian ceramic tile industry will increasingly focus on projects that are consistent with the UN’s sustainable development goals as a blueprint for achieving a better future.
