Italian ceramic tiles are easy to keep clean without the need for large quantities of water or chemical cleaning products. The non-porous nature of certain types of ceramic tile surfaces prevents dirt from penetrating deep inside and permanently altering the appearance of floors and walls.
Minimising water consumption for cleaning.
Italian ceramic tiles are ideal for interior and exterior applications thanks to their characteristics of beauty, versatility and durability along with hygiene and ease of cleaning. All it takes is a little water and a commercially available cleaning product to remove dirt and restore the ceramic surfaces to their original appearance. The low porosity of porcelain tile surfaces guarantees perfect washability in all conditions of use, both indoors and outdoors.
Resistance to dirt, stains, germs and bacteria.
In the early stages of the Italian ceramic tile production process, the material has the form of a very fine, almost moisture-free granular spray-dried powder. This spray-dried powder is pressed with a force of up to 450 kg/cm2 and then fired at around 1200°C in the highest temperature zone, creating a compact material with technical properties that facilitate everyday cleaning.
The low porosity of the porcelain tile surface guarantees very low water absorption (less than 0.5% by weight), creating a hostile environment that inhibits the growth and proliferation of mould, bacteria and fungi. This ensures that the floors and walls in homes remain clean and hygienic for a long period of time.
In addition, Italian ceramic tiles are resistant to staining. Dirt can be removed simply by washing the surface with a damp cloth and warm water. In the case of stubborn stains, it is sufficient to use a gentle household cleaning product.
