Awards for architectural projects carried out using Italian ceramic tiles | by Andrea Serri
In just under a month the deadline will expire for submissions to Ceramics and Design, the architecture competition for the best projects carried out in Italy by Italian architects, divided into the three categories residential, institutional and commercial. The seven previous editions of the competition confirmed the versatility of use of Italian ceramic tiles and their ability to bring unique and iconic qualities to buildings and spaces, as demonstrated by the photo gallery of the winning projects.
Thanks to their outstanding technical and performance characteristics, today’s Italian ceramic tiles are suitable for virtually any application anywhere in the world. These characteristics, combined with digitally decorated surfaces that allow for almost unlimited solutions and colours and the creativity typical of architecture and design professionals, make these materials ideal for use on any surface, whether horizontal or vertical, interior or exterior and in residential or public spaces.
The Italian competition’s big brother, the Tile Competition, is organised according to the same principles and is open to projects carried out using Italian ceramic tile in the USA. During the 26 years of the competition, Italian tile has become one of the most popular materials for use in the world of interior design and architecture and brings added value to the projects of architects and designers, whether young professionals just embarking on their careers or well-established players in the US market.
To take advantage of this outstanding opportunity to showcase their work, Italian architects have until 13 May to request information and submit their projects. The winners will be announced at the Ceramics and Design competition award ceremony to be held in Salerno in early July.
