ADI at Cersaie 2022 | by Cristina Faedi
The Italian industrial design association ADI is continuing its collaboration with Cersaie, the world’s most important ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings exhibition due to be held in the Bologna Exhibition Centre from 26 to 30 September 2022. The show has a strong focus on the world of architecture and design and will host more than 600 exhibitors from 28 countries.
ADI has been partnering with Cersaie for several years as part of its mission to promote the cultural and economic value of industrial design and support the responsible and sustainable improvement of living conditions for all. For this purpose, ADI is presenting two awards that recognise the quality of the products exhibited at Cersaie 2022.
The first, which goes to the most innovative Italian products in the ceramic and bathroom furnishing sectors, is the 8th ADI Ceramics and Bathroom Design Award. The jury consisting of Silvia Stanzani (designer), Oscar G. Colli (cofounder of the magazine Il Bagno oggi e domani), Patrizia Scarzella (architect and journalist) and Valentina Downey (president of ADI Emilia-Romagna) will select the products that best combine innovation and design quality from those on display in the ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings categories.
The other accolade, the 3rd ADI Booth Design Award, was created to honour the exhibition booths that best promote the exhibiting companies’ products and brands. A panel of experts made up of Cecilia Bione (Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna), Pierluigi Molteni (architect and professor of Advanced Design) and Wladimiro Bendandi (ADI Emilia-Romagna) will select the booths at Cersaie 2022 that best communicate the identity and value of the exhibiting companies’ products.
The products and booths selected by the two panels of judges will be shortlisted for the 2022 edition of the ADI Design Index, the yearbook featuring the best of Italian design in each product category selected by the ADI Permanent Design Monitor in anticipation of the next edition of the Compasso d’Oro ADI, the most prestigious Italian design award. Shortlisting ensures that the products pass the first selection phase and are submitted directly to the thematic commissions responsible for the next stage of selection.
The awards will be presented at 2.30 p.m. on 28 September 2022.
