The philosophical term “eudemonia” or “eudaimonia” refers to happiness as the fundamental purpose of life. Architect Margherita Foschi chose this name for the house we look at in this article to give it a unique identity and to create a “tranquil nest suitable for raising a family”.

The spaces, colours and materials are designed to create a unique blend of love, joy, functionality and playfulness and are based on an in-depth Feng Shui analysis that takes into account the home’s inhabitants, design, aesthetics, wellbeing and energy flow to achieve a compelling balance. The colour palette chosen by the architect in collaboration with the clients consists of shades of blue, orange, white and wood tones.

“The environment we live in influences our health, emotions, thoughts and overall well-being,” Foschi explains. “With this in mind, I incorporate practices such as Feng Shui to foster a connection between individuals and their homes. A home is an extension of ourselves, it contains our essence. It acts as our second skin, a space where we can recharge and restore our energy.”

The layout of the house begins with the entrance which opens onto a large open-plan living area featuring a soft, wide sofa, a dining room and a kitchen, all fitted out with custom furniture that complements the design concept and colour scheme. A console table in the entrance extends as far as a niche that houses a small home office at the centre of the apartment. A full-height wooden sliding door separates the living area from the sleeping area, consisting of a master bedroom and ensuite, two single bedrooms, and another shared bathroom. The master bedroom connects seamlessly with a walk-in wardrobe decorated with elegant floral-themed wallpaper.

The second bathroom stands out for its playful and visually striking design, featuring a mosaic of hexagonal tiles in cool shades of blue, wisteria and milk white, arranged to resemble rolling ocean waves. “The aim was to create an unconventional, playful bathroom that would be suitable for the whole family,” explains the architect. “The hexagonal tiles from Tonalite’s Exanuance collection proved a perfect fit in terms of colour, surface texture and feel.” The entire colour palette selected for this project embraced bright and playful hues. The wide range of options from ceramic tile manufacturer Tonalite allowed the architect to bring her vision to life. For example, she chose Nuance Blu 7×28 cm tiles to decorate the wooden console table in the entrance hall and Exanuance tiles in blue, wisteria and milk white for the bathroom, creating a dynamic and elegant aesthetic.
