Under the Florida sun
As the name suggests, Reunion Resort is located in Reunion, Florida just a short drive from Orlando’s popular theme parks: the world-famous Walt Disney World Resort, the SeaWorld Orlando water park and the Universal Orlando Resort, second in terms of size but not of number of visitors.
This means it is conveniently located for exploring all the nearby entertainment venues but also for enjoying the Florida sun and its pleasant temperatures.
The villa we look at in this article makes the most of the climate and location, offering splendid views of the landscape from its large windows and splendid terrace. Overlooking the magnificent golf courses of the Reunion Resort & Golf Club, the property offers direct access to the resort’s many attractions, including the water park, the 10 swimming pools scattered around the grounds, the spa and a choice of 7 themed restaurants, and of course the three golf courses, the real highlight of the property.
The two-level building has a simple and linear architectural design. The main façade features a large balcony and a bow-window with two projecting volumes which are further emphasised by a coat of white plaster standing out against the pinkish brick walls. The flat roof houses a large terrace that serves as an open-air lounge with views of the golf course.
The interior furnishings and materials were chosen to enhance the sense of brightness and permeability of the rooms. Ceramic tiles recreate the glossy surfaces of classic marble and become the leitmotif of all the domestic spaces. In particular, the architect opted for Panaria Ceramica’s Trilogy collection in an alternation of three different production technologies: classic porcelain stoneware (Onyx Light Lux version, size 60×120 cm for the floor), thin laminate stoneware (5.5 mm thickness, size 100×300 cm, used for the living area wall) and the monoporosa wall tile (Fusion Onyx Light version, size 35×100 cm for the wall adjacent to the large internal staircase and the music area with a piano).
The dark areas on the walls and use of total black furnishings break up the chromatic uniformity of the house while maintaining a harmonious balance between light and colour.
